Apple’s Upgraded Siri AI Could Face Months-Long EU Delay

European Availability Remains Unclear

Apple’s upgraded Siri AI could remain unavailable to iPhone and iPad users in the European Union for several more months, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The delay is tied to Apple’s ongoing efforts to comply with the bloc’s digital rules, though the company has not provided a confirmed release timeline for the region.

Five Months Is the Best-Case Estimate

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said a delay of around five months would be the “absolute best-case scenario” for Apple’s rollout in the European Union. European users could therefore face a longer wait if negotiations over compliance take additional time.

The estimate applies to Apple’s upgraded Siri AI, which is expected to bring more advanced capabilities to the company’s voice assistant. However, the feature’s European launch remains unconfirmed, and the timing described by Gurman should be treated as a reported projection rather than an official schedule.

EU Negotiations Could Extend the Wait

Apple’s compliance discussions with European authorities are central to the uncertainty. The company may need several more months to determine how the upgraded assistant can be offered under the region’s digital regulations, according to Gurman’s report.

For now, iPhone and iPad owners in the European Union should not assume that the upgraded Siri AI will arrive alongside users in other markets. Apple has not announced a European release date, and Gurman’s “absolute best-case” estimate leaves open the possibility of a substantially longer delay.
