Apple’s Home Security Camera Still Coming Next Year
Apple’s own home security camera is still reportedly on track for next year, according to a MacRumors forum thread citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The clarification separates the product from a group of LG-made smart-home accessories discussed in an earlier report.
In a follow-up post on X, Gurman said the security cameras co-developed with LG are “completely separate” from Apple’s planned privacy-centric home camera and sensor, per that thread. His comments indicate that the LG-related products should not be treated as evidence that Apple’s own camera project has been canceled or replaced.
The distinction matters because the two efforts appear to involve different hardware plans and development paths. Apple’s camera and sensor are said to be part of the company’s broader home strategy, while the LG-made accessories were the subject of separate reporting. Gurman did not suggest that the LG products are Apple-branded versions of its upcoming camera.
Apple has not officially announced the home security camera, so details about its design, features and launch timing remain unconfirmed. The company also has not said how the device would fit alongside existing smart-home products or services. For now, next year remains the reported timeframe rather than a confirmed release date.
Gurman’s clarification gives Apple watchers a narrower takeaway: the company’s privacy-focused home camera is still reportedly in development, and the LG partnership does not appear to change that. It also prevents the two stories from being read as one product announcement.
Until Apple confirms the device, the camera’s final specifications, pricing and availability could change. The latest information is therefore best understood as an update on the status of a reported Apple project, not a formal launch commitment.
