Apple Launches HomeView, New Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini 2

Apple Launches HomeView, New Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini 2

Apple today introduced HomeView, its first smart home display, along with a new Apple TV 4K, the HomePod mini 2 and a lineup of partner-built accessories called Apple Home Collection, at its “Welcome Home” event in New York City on Tuesday, October 13. Pre-orders for the three Apple-made devices opened today, according to Apple Newsroom, The Verge and Engadget.

HomeView is the headline product. It costs $299 in both a tabletop version and a wall-mounted version, and comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray, Engadget reports. The Verge says it has a 7-inch, square Liquid Retina display on a rounded speaker base, a design that recalls the 2002 iMac G4. A 12-megapixel camera handles FaceTime calls and can recognize up to six people in a household, switching from a shared home screen to a personalized view. HomeView controls lights, thermostats and other accessories, and can show live feeds from up to nine security cameras. Siri AI features such as personal context run through a connected iPhone, and The Verge notes every user in the home needs an iPhone on the latest software. HomeView ships November 13.

The wall-mounted HomeView attaches with one of three mounts from Schneider Home, priced from $59.95 to $129.95, The Mac Observer reports. Apple says HomeView is not available in the European Union, because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.

The HomePod mini 2 costs $149 in the U.S. and comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight, Apple says. It is available starting Friday, October 30. The Verge reports it uses the S10 chip and supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, Thread and Matter, with Siri AI support arriving in a later software update. The top light now matches album art with a feature Apple calls sound glow.

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K keeps the same design but adds three far-field microphones, Apple says, so viewers can talk to Siri without the remote. The Verge reports it runs on an A19 chip, has 128GB of storage and moves to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Siri answers appear on screen rather than out loud. The Siri Remote gains Find My support, so Siri can make a lost remote play a sound. Paired with four HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers, the box supports a four-speaker surround setup that calibrates itself to the room. It comes in a single 128GB configuration with Ethernet for $299, MacRumors reports, and is available starting November 13.

Apple Home Collection is a set of accessories designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, including indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, a video doorbell and a door lock, according to Apple’s announcement. Each sets up with a tap of an iPhone and is managed in the Home app with end-to-end encryption. The Verge lists an LG indoor camera at $199, an outdoor camera at $299 ($399 with floodlights) and a video doorbell at $249. Apple says availability begins in December, with some accessories arriving in early 2027.

Everything announced:

  • HomeView, tabletop or wall-mounted: $299, ships November 13
  • HomePod mini 2: $149, available October 30
  • Apple TV 4K (4th generation): $299, available November 13
  • Apple Home Collection from LG and Schneider Electric: starting in December, some items in early 2027

The launch is Apple’s broadest push into the smart home since HomeKit arrived in 2014, putting it in direct competition with Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub.
