Apple Set October 28 ‘Pro and Tell’ Launch as Bloomberg Reported OLED Touchscreen MacBook Pro

Apple has invited press and influencers to a “Pro and tell” launch experience in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, confirming a second round of hardware announcements this month, Engadget and MacRumors report. Apple also posted the “Pro and tell” teaser on its Newsroom. Apple has not said which products it will show, but Bloomberg reports the launch will bring OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models and an OLED iPad mini.

Like the October 13 Welcome Home launch, it is not a traditional streamed keynote. Invited media get hands-on time in Los Angeles, and everyone else will see the news through press releases on October 28, MacRumors says. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who first reported a launch on or around October 27, the lineup is also said to include an M6 version of the entry 14-inch MacBook Pro and an M6 iMac, and is geared toward creative professionals in video, photo and music production.

The touchscreen models are reportedly 14-inch and 16-inch notebooks in the MacBook Pro family, rather than a separate line some rumors had called MacBook Ultra. MacRumors, summarizing the report, says they would have OLED displays, touch input and a Dynamic Island, and would be lighter than current models. Engadget notes they are expected to use the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips as the current high-end MacBook Pro.

How much thinner the new design will be is less clear. In an X post on October 7, Gurman said, “I don’t think it’ll be significantly thinner in the end,” MacRumors reports. Gurman had described “thinner and lighter” frames in October 2025 and “a thinner chassis” in November 2025, but his October 2026 newsletter only said the machines would be “significantly lighter.”

The iPad mini is said to gain a landscape front camera for video calls, a redesigned speaker system and an OLED display. A separate, less established claim concerns its refresh rate. Korean tipster yeux1122, who posts on Naver and has a mixed track record, says the iPad mini 8 could use a 60Hz OLED panel rather than a 120Hz ProMotion display, according to a MacRumors forum thread. Bloomberg’s report does not address the refresh rate, so that detail should be treated as unconfirmed.

The October 28 launch follows Apple’s October 13 Welcome Home event, where it introduced the HomeView smart home display, a new Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini 2.

Pricing, availability, screen specifications and how touch input would work in macOS have not been announced. If the reports are accurate, the MacBook Pro would be Apple’s first touchscreen Mac. Apple has confirmed only the date and place, so the product details remain reports until it makes its announcements.
