Apple Music Gets a Monochrome Icon in iOS 27.2 Beta 4
Apple has replaced the red-and-white Apple Music icon with a black-and-white one in the fourth developer beta of iOS 27.2, released October 13, MacRumors and 9to5Mac report. In light mode the icon shows a black music note on a white background; in dark mode the colors flip to a white note on black.
The red is fading from inside the app too. MacRumors says the selected tab in the Music app’s navigation bar is now highlighted in blue instead of red, settings text swaps red for blue, and Music widgets now use a black background. 9to5Mac adds that the Library section list (Playlists, Albums, Artists, Songs) has also lost its color.
The icon follows a new, bolder Apple Music wordmark that appeared in iOS 27.2 beta 3 and in Apple’s marketing for its Apple Music Hall venue, suggesting a wider rebrand of the service. Engadget notes early reaction online has been largely negative.
This is beta software, so the design could still change before iOS 27.2 reaches the public. Apple hasn’t commented on the change.
