Apple TV 4K Gets Its First Amazon Preorder Discount

Amazon is now offering the first cash discount on Apple’s new A19 Apple TV 4K, cutting the pre-order price to $289.99 from $299. The deal was reported today by MacRumors, which says it is the best price it has tracked on the device so far.

The markdown is small, at about $9, but it arrives just days after Apple announced the fourth generation Apple TV 4K, its first new model in four years. Amazon is quoting delivery on launch day, Friday, November 13. As of this morning, Amazon was the only retailer MacRumors had seen discounting the box, and 9to5Toys also confirmed the $289.99 price.

That makes the Amazon listing notable for more than the price. Shipping estimates for the new Apple TV 4K have reportedly slipped at Apple’s own store in some locations, with certain pre-orders not arriving until late November, so Amazon may currently be both cheaper and faster for buyers who want the box on day one.

The new Apple TV 4K is built around the A19 chip, replacing the A15 Bionic in the 2022 model, and adds a dedicated AV1 decoder, improved wireless connectivity and built-in microphones, according to The Verge. It also leans heavily on Siri AI, and works with a new Find My tracking feature for the Siri Remote. At $299, it costs roughly twice what the 2022 model did at launch, so even a small discount may be welcome to buyers who were already planning to upgrade.

Pre-orders are also open at Apple, Best Buy, Target and B&H Photo, though none of those retailers appeared to be discounting the new model as of this morning. Amazon has also trimmed the new HomeView home hub to $289.99 from $299 in Space Gray and Rose Pink, and has the new Find My-enabled Siri Remote available for pre-order at its standard $59. Pre-order pricing can change at any time, and there is no stated end date for the deal.
